Therefore, we have no choice but to revert to our historic application of counting all points towards a Championship. Whereas we understand the “spirit” of the rule, with no clear direction we cannot apply it.

The Championship points will be corrected and updated by Tuesday.

As far as any individual staff members influencing the application of the rule, this is just not true. Human error in writing and these rules and thus interpreting them lead to the confusion.

We do apologize for any confusion and will clarify and correct the language in all future publications.

There was a nice turnout of A-Mod Drivers and Owners at the meeting at Market Place N.M. tonight. Thanks to Edward Chernow for the use of his facility and to Robert Shay for holding the meeting. Here are the main issues that were discussed.

Trach Improvements
200,00 gallon holding pond to be added to help alliviate water shortage problems.
Large implement tires that have caused damage to a few cars to be removed and replaced by regular size tires buried in the ground

Racing improvements for a better show, less carnage and safety.
Mark Harger named as “Rough Driving Czar” to police uneccessary crashes and out of control drivers.
RaceCeivers to be mandatory for ALL A-Mod drivers beginning on 7-30-11.
RaceCeivers will be available at Budlong Motorsports ( 275-3996 ) by Monday 7-25-11.
Cost of Receivers is $105.00 and EarBuds are $25.00, EarBuds can also be purchased at Radio Shack.
There will be a limited number of RaceCeivers available at the track for anyone who shows up without one ( there may be a fee for these units ).

Starting Cone to be used.
The cone will be at or near the exit of turn four on initial starts ( double file ).
The cone will be in the middle of the backstretch on restarts ( single file ).
Drivers can not pass a car until after he/she has passed the cone. This means when YOU pass the cone no matter how deep in the field you are, NOT when the leader passes the cone.

There was much discussion about the “Involvement” rule or the person causing a yellow flag being put at the rear of the field. The “Involvement” rule says if you are involved in any way, shape or form you go to the rear, the “Cause” rule would allow drivers who spin to avoid a wreck to get their position back and only the person or persons causing the yellow flag go to the rear of the field. Obviously there are pros and cons to both methods and nothing concrete was decided at this meeting.

$100 Tow Money for cars coming more that 100 miles, this is $100 per Tow Vehicle, this does not mean if you load 6 cars on a hauler you get $600. Opening Night is $100, for the season it will be $50 and $100 to A-Mods and Sprints only (cruisers excluded). These prices apply to this weekends show only.

All driver’s registrations for both the Asphalt and Dirt Oval Programs are due prior to race day. On race days, we will only do a one day registration for $20 per day that will not be applied to the annual registration fee.

Driver registration forms are available on the Asphalt and Dirt Oval Racing pages that are found from the Racing tab on the home page. They can be printed, filed out and faxed to the track office at 352-8889.

It is important to pre-register to insure accuracy of the information and that it get logged into the scoring system. On race days, there is not sufficient time to program the information into the system and get the sponsor information to the announcer.

Scoring problems could exist and drivers might be required to tag the field because the registration was not received prior to race day. Line-ups will be based on a full inversion of the season points average and all one day registrations will tag the field (late check-in could also cause a tag the field situation). Pill draw will determine the line-up for the first 2 races while a point average is established.

We will be distributing the SMP Driver Licenses on opening night. Drivers will be required to present this license at each race they enter. Drivers that do not present their license will be required to pay for a one day license.

Thank you to all the drivers that have already registered! If you have not had a chance to do so, please register today.
